President Obama has kept his promise to lift the HIV-positive ban on admission to the United States. The rules lifting the ban are set to take effect Jan 1. That's 60 days after the new regulation was published Monday in the Federal Register.

The old rules barred an individual who tested HIV positive from getting permanent residence. A waiver was available to the spouse, parent, or unmarried son or daughter of a permanent resident or U.S. citizen. If the ban is lifted as planned, testing HIV positive will no longer be a bar, and applicants for admission to the U.S. will no longer need a waiver. HIV testing will no longer be part of the process of applying for permanent residence. Read source article...

That will be good since it gives equal opportunity for all including HIV/AIDS minority groups
