Call for coordination between AIDS and TB control programmes

West Bengal is one of the five States which have managed to control TB well. But in the past five years, the programme has stagnated. Three important issues were highlighted in the government programme — 1) tackling the growing incidence of multidrug resistant TB (MDR-TB), better coordination between the National AIDS Control Programme and the Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme (RNTCP) and creating awareness among various communities of the disease.
