A Kenyan court has jailed a man suffering from Tuberculosis for two months for spreading the disease.

George Ochieng’ Nyaucha, a hawker, was accused before a Homa Bay court in Western Kenya for exposing himself to the public without proper precaution.

The court was told that Nyaucha suffers from Multi-drug Resistant Tuberculosis and had been admitted at Homa Bay District Hospital where he escaped from the TB Isolation Ward and, therefore, exposed himself to the public without proper precaution.

The 30-year-old man has been escaping from the hospital claiming that the diet was poor. District public health officers with the help of touts trailed and arrested him.

He pleaded guilty and asked Senior Resident Magistrate, Charles Kimutai to ensure he is given proper diet while in jail.

The court ordered prison officials to offer him proper diet and send him for treatment at Homa Bay District Hospital.
