Posted by Suksma Ratri (ratri)

It is year 2010 already and the International AIDS Conference had already been held for 18 times. This year, we are meant to conclude the Universal Access. To quote Rachel, the distance that we had to go through from Global Village to the PLHIV Lounge is a good analogy for reaching Universal Access 2010. It is too far and we have a long way to go. Hopefully this conference will somehow speed up the process of reaching the goal of Universal Access 2010 and Millenium Development´s Goals 2015. Despite of some disappointments that I felt for this conference, I still have hope that in the future IAC will be able to bring in significant results for global AIDS response.

[RSS] Currently 1 comments.
Posted by Bobby Ramakant (bobby)

As per the results of Bangladesh study, a shortened standardised regimen of just nine months was effective in treating MDR-TB patients. One of the challenges of treating MDR-TB is that it is a long and difficult treatment regimen – so this was a big breakthrough. TREAT TB research is aiming to find whether the same results of Bangladesh trial can be replicated in four other countries.

[RSS] Currently 0 comments.

Posted by weziwe

Veronica* did not realize she had been sterilized while giving birth to her daughter until four years later when, after failing to conceive, she and her boyfriend consulted a doctor.

"I was like 'Okay, fine', because there was nothing I could do by then, but I was angry. I hate [those nurses]," she told IRIN/PlusNews. Veronica tested HIV-positive during a routine antenatal visit and was given a form to sign by nurses at the hospital where she went to deliver.

[RSS] Currently 0 comments.
